This week, Vintown and Sammerz feel the need… the need to talk about the Top Gun soundtrack’s two biggest hits: “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins and “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin!
We enter the “Danger Zone” first to talk about the song’s writing, the multiple bands and artists that were asked to make it before Kenny Loggins, and the artist’s inspiration for singing it.
The YouTube Comments are their own danger zone with bad war takes, a girl’s thoughts of her dad in tighty whities, and someone who is very upset about Rick Rolls in 2022.
The show takes a quick detour to talk about Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from the new movie. Do you think these Top Gun fans are happy about a new song being made? Of course, they’re not. Music was better on the original Top Gun soundtrack!
Our second song is Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away”, but is it even really by Berlin? Find out that answer as well as details about the steamy scene between Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis, the role this song had in Berlin’s break-up, Michael Jordan, and Jessica Simpson.
The YTC is filled with some interesting characters on this one with people thinking this song is about a ghost stewardess, creepy reply guys, Hollywood cokeheads, and more.
Military propaganda never sounded so good.
